Welcome

Formerly titled "The Traveling Job Coach" and then "The Traveling Athletic Director," this blog is
for me and my memory because it's not very good.
My memory is not very good. See what I mean?

This blog has also morphed into a place for me to share my thoughts on life and how I see the world.
These thoughts often bubble to the surface during my travels.

I don't concern myself with grammar. This is simply a place for me to record my memories,
thoughts and feelings while I travel.

I started this blog before my trip to Europe July 10-24, 2009. Email me at brosefield@gmail.com
whilst I'm traveling or comment on posts here if you see something that
strikes your fancy.

Yes, I used the words whilst and fancy in the same paragraph.

Parking In Japan

If you haven’t realized this about me by now:  I’m fascinated by little things.

So, the fact that this post is going to be about parking in Japan comes as no surprise to me.

Some vehicles here are REALLY small.  So are some streets.  But not all vehicles are small.  I did see a Toyota FJ Cruiser yesterday and there was something the size of a Highlander too.  Full sized sedans are here as well.

But parking.  Wow.  Some of the working jobs that Japanese people pull off are incredible.

I’m also fascinated by these vertical parking decks wherein it seems that someone drives in and after giving their keys to the attendant, has their car lifted onto a shelf made for a car.  Some of these shelves are open air.  Some are in enclosed towers.

And wow.  Some of the parking jobs that people make happen at their homes are incredible.

Check out some of what I’m talking about:
