Welcome

Formerly titled "The Traveling Job Coach" and then "The Traveling Athletic Director," this blog is
for me and my memory because it's not very good.
My memory is not very good. See what I mean?

This blog has also morphed into a place for me to share my thoughts on life and how I see the world.
These thoughts often bubble to the surface during my travels.

I don't concern myself with grammar. This is simply a place for me to record my memories,
thoughts and feelings while I travel.

I started this blog before my trip to Europe July 10-24, 2009. Email me at brosefield@gmail.com
whilst I'm traveling or comment on posts here if you see something that
strikes your fancy.

Yes, I used the words whilst and fancy in the same paragraph.

That Time I Met Amos Lee

Ok, so I used to get star struck when I met people that I consider to be famous. Well, there's no "used to" apparently. I got through security with my first TSA Precheck experience since getting my Global Entry Card(which was amazing by the way) and made it to my gate. As I approached I passed a guy that looked a whoooooole lot like Amos Lee (because, as it turns out, it was Amos Lee). I followed him for about 45 seconds like a really sane person and decided to speak. I told him I came up from SC to see him. He asked where I lived and told me he went to USC which I knew. He asked if I saw him at the Township and I told him now but I did see him in Charleston. He said "right on," gave me a second fist bump and I told him to keep up the great work. Seriously cool dude.

Just another day in Indy!

Here's where the meeting happened:

Just Another Indy Day...

....in which I got a massage from a lady who toured with Luke Bryan and band as their masseuse, got to go in the Scottish Rite Temple (look, I know I wrote about it earlier. I'm just recapping)(yes, I know recapping looks weird written out like that), got to see Amos Lee in the Circle Theater, ate really good Chicago style pizza with Chris, learned about Fountain Square from Chris, had really good conversation with Chris, got in 25,000 steps, saw the replica of the USS Indianapolis which carried the two atomic bombs that were dropped on Japan, passed by Palomino and other places that conjured up some serious nostalgia and met Nate and Claire who have been very gracious hosts to me here at their home. Another great trip to Indy almost in the books. Trip #8 officially I believe as I had miscounted earlier.

Finally Got in the Temple

This is my 7th time to Indy I believe and at least half of those trips I've tried to get into the Scottish Rite Temple. Dreams do come true as they offer tours every third Saturday of the month and I was able to make it through today. It is a beautiful building. It was cool going through with the group I was with as well. All of them were from Lafayette and Greenwood. Very friendly folks.

Back to Indy

If you are a regular reader of this, you know how much I love Indianapolis. If you are a regular reader of this, I suggest we set a meeting so we can talk about your life choices.

But, I love Indy. I love the people, the airport, the weather, the memories I have here. I love it all. I am staying at an airbnb with Nate and Claire, and first of all, what a beautiful old home they have. And their hospitality with leaving out toiletries and snacks for me is unreal. Makes me want to leave things around my house so I can say "wow" to myself on a daily basis. They have a cool dog and a sneaky cat. The cat may be cool too, but he/she hasn't hung with me like their dog has. The airbnb experience still blows me away. Here's what happened last night:
-I landed at IND
-My buddy Chris picked me up(after having to navigate the parked cars at the baggage claim area. It felt very 1999 out there). It was great to see Chris and talk with him. He's a deep thinker.
-He drove me to SoBro(South Broad Ripple)
-I got out and walked up to a complete stranger's house, got the key to said strangers house out of a lock box, and let myself into these strangers house, met their dog and cat, went upstairs, took a shower in these strangers bathroom, and fell asleep in these strangers spare bedroom. Yes. I love it. Strangers. What a world I live in!

I took a nice walk around SoBro this morning and stumbled upon the Monon Trail which Alane had shown me almost 10 years ago so that was cool. That's where I saw that mural and bunny.

I'm hoping to get to see the Scottish Rite Temple today and then it's Amos Lee show tonight!
