This is going to be sooooooooo travel blogger of me, but I’m going to review the Imano Tokyo Ginza Hostel.
Hostel culture is fascinating to me. Heck. Pretty much anything out of the ordinary is fascinating to me. Unsure of what a hostel is? Think college dorm plus Air BNB, plus hotel, plus scary movie (just kidding), plus people from all over the world all just kinda living in the same spot for a few days. I was in two different dorm rooms (I booked two nights separately) and had males and females in the room. It just works out. People keep to themselves at times. Other times they don’t. I met Eric as I was climbing out of my top bunk (which is quite a site to behold I’m sure) when I said, “Hi I’m Brian. I’m about to go get dinner if you’d like to come along.” That type of conversation is just accepted in hostels. It feels very much like college which is interesting because Eric just finished college ;)
I am usually one of the older occupants of hostels. But this hostel had some other folks that felt my age or older. Oh, and Blas, there are private rooms! That’s just not my style, mostly because of price. I paid an avenge of $35 or so per night. Now, there are certainly some sacrifices made to get this price, but when I travel I’m rarely in the room so I really don’t care about privacy.
The Imano Tokyo Ginza Hostel, heretofore refereed to as the ITGH, is a good hostel. It’s clean. Modern. Compact. User friendly. Has a super friendly, and English speaking staff. Has great food and drink in their cafe. And is in a quiet part of town and somewhat near Tokyo Station which is a real plus.
Both nights of my stay I was able to hang out in the cafe, and thanks to Eric, I was able to make some cool connections with people. Breakfast this morning in the cafe was incredible and cost me 800 yen which is less than $8 US. Hard to beat that.
I have to come back to Tokyo for at least one more night and it’s a serious consideration to come back to the ITGH for my last night. I highly recommend.
